"Those he called and sent out took no salary, paid no tithe. They never passed a collection plate." This is excerpted from an article by Cathy Zimmerman of The Daily News, published on Feb 10th, 2009 with a title of "Worldwide fellowship needs no building, no budget, no bishops". You can search for this article at www.tdn.com or this link may take you right to it. http://tdn.com/lifestyles/article_9146e7e4-c8f6-551e-9c9d-d1dc8fbe437c.html First off, I don't believe Muriel follows the example that Jesus gave. She belongs to the 2x2s who deceive and mislead others. See 2x2 Beliefs Secondly, the apostles that Jesus called did receive a salary. See the following quote from the King James Bible Mat 10:9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Mat 10:10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. And also the disciples were not to be ashamed of eating what others gave them. They had worked for it. Luk 10:7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: We learn from what Jesus told the apostles that they didn't need to prepare for their future, God would be providing for them and they would be working for it. The Bible teaches clearly that if you don't work, you shouldn't eat. Thirdly, the disciples of Jesus Christ did pay a tithe. The apostles of Jesus Christ were Jews who were sent to the Jews. The Jews tithed (gave one tenth) to the priesthood. It was written in the ordinances that they were to tithe to support the priesthood. After reading this article listed earlier, it is mostly lies. The workers rely on car insurance provided by others. They have church buildings at convention grounds. Their headquarters is at the conventions where their yearly lists go out. I grew up in the Workers' Way and saw that the workers very softly and sweetly taught subtle lies in guile; I learned to associate "kindness" and "nice"-acting people with lies. I became confrontational to get answers. Now I'm learning to speak the full truth in love. | ||||||
