Workers Creating Hell for Followers
The workers rules and regulations (mostly unspoken) are what kills the life of their followers. I realized such a blessing after leaving the cult by latching onto the 10 commandments. They gave me a clear outline of what was sin and what was not. This gave extraordinary relief from many anxieties and lifted a heavy burden from my heart and mind. Mind control instigates fears and anxieties that bind a person to the cult and rob them of liberty. Praise God for being clear in the Bible and God have mercy on the workers for corrupting others for their own gain.
Some things are taught by workers in meetings. Other things are taught through behavioral control. For example, if you say that you are going to go to another Bible Study at a church, they would frown or grimace so that you learn from their body language that this is the wrong thing to be doing. If you persist, discouraging remarks may be made to you and about you to others. Yet if you were to put things into words and read them back like this "Is it a sin to study the Bible?" Then you would have to answer "No, God wants this". But yet workers forbid others from participating in Bible studies with Christians. For example, how many workers study with Presbyterians or Baptists? Zippo. They are afraid of getting to know God. They love darkness rather than light.
Erickson said members of the group do not own televisions ("we have found it takes away from the quietness of the home") and don't go to movies. Females dress in skirts of mid-calf length and wear their hair long, practices grounded in Scripture.

I just get a kick out of these outrageous lies and the ignorant reporters who write this trash.
No TVs (but many own tvs, just hide them in closet when workers come over)
Internet is allowed and many workers have laptops with Internet access
Woman must have long hair
Woman should wear their hair in buns
Woman should wear dresses, not pants
No jewelry
No makeup
No TVs in the home
Go to meetings
"Take Part" in meetings
Agree with the workers
Don't drink alcohol
2x2s are discouraged from attending other churches that are "false". 2x2 workers preach against false churches who have church buildings.
In many US states, drinking of alcoholic beverages is forbidden. Many consider it a sin and despise people who drink wine or beer. While the Bible speaks against drunkenness, it never labels drinking wine or beer a sin.
In some states, having a beard is reason enough to be despised. Some workers will ask men to shave their beards because they claim these men are trying to "hide their face". The Bible never states that having a beard is a sin.
People are expected to attend meetings regularly. The Bible teaches that we should have fellowship with others, but does not teach that attending meetings are a condition for salvation. People who attend fewer meetings than expected are said to be "losing out" (losing out on salvation is insinuated). God wants us to have fellowship with Christians.
Workers restrict people to Bible studies with the workers or the "friends". However the Bible teaches us to have studies with Christians. It does not limit studying the Bible only with 2x2 members.
Don't attend Christian seminars. A Washington women attended a Christian seminar with her two daughters. They had a code word to refer to the seminar because the state overseer of the cult didn't like the Christian seminars. So they hid the fact from people who disapproved. |
