Problems With How Offenses Are Handled

Offenses occur often within the group. The problem is that they are not handled the way that God said to handle them.
Hmmmm… What do you do when you see something you perceive as darkness?

Do you try to stamp it out? Do you bring in the heavy artillery and fight it?

Or do you simply switch on the light?

This would be HB’s error.

My thoughts were similar.

The ministry seems to have two main ways of dealing with issues:

1. Procrastinate and do nothing for fear of upsetting the status quo.

2. Kangaroo trials, then go in with all guns blazing and wreak havok.

It doesn't need to be that way. - JO, on message board
According to what the workers have told me, there are several reason they don't follow the Bible:
  1. The spirit within them doesn't lead them to obey the scripture
  2. Claiming that a worker has offended someone is like Aaron and Miriam who spoke against Moses (misuse of Num 12:1)
  3. The people in the church aren't wise enough to make decisions
  4. It's wrong to judge
  5. Offenses and tresspasses are the same in their mind as faults and so they believe Bible conflicts with itself and they prefer to use Gal 6:1.
  6. It causes problems in the field.
  7. You shouldn't make waves
  8. People just need to fit in
Mat 18:7 Woe unto the world because of offenses! for it must needs be that offenses come; but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh!

Sometimes frustrated parents may yell at their kids and say how disappointed they are that they aren't like other professing kids. The kids may have been trying hard, but are confused by the mixed communication they get from their parents and the abundant hypocrisy. So then the kids feel sad, others find out about it and may yell at the parent. Then the parent feels bad and apologizes. Then the steam builds up again and it happens all over again.

Jesus Christ taught several things about offenses. He knows how to handle problems. Some offenses are between believers and others between believers and unbelievers.

Here's how to handle people who are offended by the truth and are not Christians.

Mat 15:12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? Mat 15:13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. Mat 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Please check out what Jesus taught on how to handle offenses by others who are believers.

Mat 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. Mat 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. Mat 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as a heathen man and a publican. Mat 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Mat 18:19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Mat 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

It is important to follow what Jesus teaches. He knows best.
