Alienation - a 2x2 tactic
Workers spread lies about people in order to alienate them from people who could help them.
Prime examples are when workers tell their followers that those who left their cult are "bitter" or "starting a new church". Another example is of telling people that having church buildings is evil. Many followers go along with this because many of them believe that if they belonged to a "church" that they would have to give money to the "church" and they don't want to do this. This is also brought out by the fact that 2x2s are often very stingy and poor tippers at restaurants.
The alienation is made easier by the fact that followers are ignorant of meanings of basic words. They don't understand what "bitterness" is or bother doing research to see if a person who has left the cult is indeed "bitter" or "starting a new church." |
