Fake Reverance
One of the things that got me out of the 2x2 cult was the "put on" reverance that 2x2s exhibited when they prayed to their God. Yet if you started to talk to these same people about God after the meeting, they looked at me like I had the palsy or acted suprised. To them God was someone you prayed to in old english and sometimes in a a sing song voice. Not a God who felt our infirmities or was touched by our needs.
Weird language
Also, they prayed in old english and used "thee" and "thou" in praying to their God. When new converts tried praying using "thee" and "thou" it could get funny. Some people have prayed using "thee" and "thou" wrong for years but others in their meetings don't correct their improper english.
Praying for Things that Displease God
Many people would pray that others would be "troubled" and come to profess in the meetings. This is clearly against the Will of God. God wants people to repent of their sins and turn to Him. God doesn't want people joining a cult that destroys their minds and turns them into ignorant childish people. |
