2x2 Cult Hierarchy

There are several classes of people within the 2x2 movement. Classes are distinguished by who has power to abuse who and get away with it.

The Cult is Heavily Organized

Here are some quotes from a newspaper article written by BILL MCCLEERY (a 2x2) who works at "The Star"

Q: Who are the ministers for this group?

A: The ministry is made up of men and women who have committed their entire lives to the work of the Gospel. We are supported by individuals moved to share by the Holy Spirit. My co-worker Jon Knochenmus and I work together in the Indianapolis area, and we work in cooperation with others in the state and others across the world.

Q: Across the world? To how many countries has this nameless home-church fellowship spread?

A: I wouldn't know the exact number, but we're in most countries of the world.

Overseers

The overseers are the highest class. Their decisions are final in the minds of the workers and other overseers. They control a "staff" of the workers. They control the current set of doctrines in their territory. Workers below them may be removed at any time without the issue brought before the church. Overseers have the final say in who can become an elder. Overseers have the final say if there is debate on whether someone can profess.

Elder Workers

The elder workers are the next highest class. Other workers must respect them and follow their orders especially at convention time. This is made up of a group of older male workers who are the "Yes" men for the overseer. They are chosen and given favors by the overseer because of beliefs that they have. Elder workers decide when to "test" a meeting, who can "profess" and who can be baptized into the cult. Elder workers receive better speaking times at conventions and special meetings.

The Older workers

The older workers are the ones who are given a companion to help them. These are the younger workers. Though their companions are not necessarily younger in age, just how they are treated.

Younger Workers

Regular workers include new workers who are not distinguished. They may be male or female. They serve as the servants to the older workers in the field. They are expected to drive the car, help with carrying baggage and assisting in the older workers promotion of certain ideas that they like. etc. Workers expect the friends to pay for their car, insurance, make their bed with clean sheets, often wash their clothes, buy them shoes, and fix them meals.

Elders

The "elders" are controlled by the workers. The workers decide which older "friend" may receive a meeting in their home. However fewer people want a meeting in their home because of the work involved and the extra care from more visits from workers. Elders are told by the workers who is to go to their meetings and who cannot.

The Friends

These are the class of people who provide support for the elders, the younger workers, the older workers, the elder workers and the overseers. They are told where to meet, with whom, when to meet and what gospel meetings to attend. They are expected to pay for the rental of halls either directly or indirectly.

Strangers

People in the cult refer to people outside the cult as "strangers". For example, "Where there any strangers in the meeting tonight?"
