The Faith mission
The Faith Mission recruited William Irvine who later broke away from the group.
The faith mission has yearly conventions.
The faith mission sends our "workers" in pairs.
The faith mission has home Bible studies.
May people in the 2x2 group are taught that the workers go out in pairs because they are "apostles". They are not told that the reason why they go out in pairs is because that's how William Irvine went out in the faith mission and later got a "special revelation from God" that his workers were apostles.
Many are told that the conventions are based on the feeding of the four-thousand. The people don't look up in the Bible and read about the feeding of the four-thousand by Jesus to see how they have basically nothing in common.
Many in the 2x2 group are told to have "Bible studies". But they don't really study the Bible at these "Bible studies". They cannot freely ask and answer questions during the study. They don't do research during the study. They don't have learned individuals there who give a significant presentation the scripture. They often recite to each other during the "study" the cliches they have heard from the workers. Often times the workers talk about the studies a week or two in advance. Many of the 2x2s simply paraphrase what they've heard the workers say about the study topic. If you mention something "off topic" about something in the study, you may be rebuked by the "elder" of the study not to mention certain things in the study again. |
