Faith and Works

Say you walk down the street. You see someone eating ice-cream with a big grin on their face. You ask them, "Do you like ice-cream?" and they turn and smile, "Like it? No, I love it!"

And it makes sense. They love to eat ice-cream and their belief shows.

Say you invite some friends over for dinner. And their child scrapes the asparagus from their dinner plate onto your floor. You ask the child, "Do you like asparagus?" and they tell you, "No. It's disgusting." Their father apologizes and cleans up the floor.

And it makes sense. The child hates asparagus and it shows in what they did.

Faith in God shows in works. When we believe in Jesus Christ, we believe in God. When we believe in God, we love our brother. Our love shows in works. We fellowship with our brother. We help our brother in need.

Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Questions:
If a man says he loves God, but his main focus in life is going to football games, does he have faith in God?
If a woman says she loves God, but hates her mother without cause, does she have faith in God?
If a child says he believes in God and gives his only dollar to help his father, does he have faith God?
If a grandmother says she believes in God and hides the fact that she wrongfully obtained an inheritence, does she have true faith in God?

I grew up in the Workers' Way and saw that the workers very softly and sweetly taught subtle lies in guile; I learned to associate "kindness" and "nice"-acting people with lies. I became confrontational to get answers. Now I'm learning to speak the full truth in love.
