Beliefs shown in the hymns they wrote and chose2x2s have their own hymn book. The 2x2s claim not to publish their beliefs. But their beliefs are shown by the hymns they allow in their hymn book and the hymns that 2x2s have written. They have assembled dozens of workers to choose and talk about which hymns to have in their last hymn book. PublisherThe 2x2s hymn book is published by R L Allan and Sons. ResultsI think this woman said it well on a post on a message board: When I was growing up going to meetings and professing -- I was made to feel like it was VERY bad to listen to Christian contemporary music. I could listen to AC/DC, Aerosmith and other secular music with sexually explicit lyrics -- which might be frowned on a little by the workers (the Friends didn't seem to mind), but wasn't considered NEARLY as bad as listening to Christian music!! I didn't listen to secular music around the workers, but I even went to secular music concerts with the other Friends my age-- and we listened to the REAL worldly music all the time when we were together. But, I didn't dare suggest going to a Christian music concert or listening to that "worldly" Christian music -- or my professing friends would have had a conniption. WHY?? - Melissa71 When you mentioned raising your hands, it made me think of a lesson I learned from Scripture after leaving meetings. When we first went to other churches and I saw people pray or sing with their hands raised up to heaven, I thought to myself "that's weird". Then, we were doing a study of prayer in my women's bible study group -- studying many different prayers from both the OT and NT -- and wow was I humbled when I kept reading over and over about the person in the Bible praying lifting their hands!! - Melissa71 My answer to Melissa71 is this: the workers are doing the work of the devil and their goal is an imitation of God (knowledge of good and evil without the power). Lies are harder to detect when they imitate and sound like they are true. The devil is subtle. His deeds and words are subtle. They are sometimes sweet as a honeycomb but in the end, bitter as death. FocusThe main focus of what I see in the hymns is on "the way", the workers, suffering, need for cleansing etc. What I find missing is songs about: Jesus being God, Praising God etc. As one person wrote "We don't do that joyful noise thing." The meetings do not uplift the Lord, nor is joyful praise to God encouraged. If you have ever been to meetings and have gotten out and been around Christians (just try not to laugh now), what do you think would happen if someone lifted up their head, raised up their hands and really praised the Lord? Ok, I think you get the picture. Doesn't matter what you say is in the hymnbook or not, the fruit of the workers cult theology show themselves in how the 2x2s behave. | ||||||
