Worker's Meetings in the Home

The Beginning of "Meetings in the home"

Early on in the 2x2 cult origin, William Irvine (first overseer) rejected denominations as being "not of God" because they had church buildings. William Irvine's original teachings were that a person could only be saved if they sold everything and gave it to him and became a homeless tramp preacher like him. But when many followers weren't going to do this, but still believed in him, he started allowing them to have meetings in the home. William Irvine changed his teachings to include his followers who didn't become workers, they had to have a place for the friends of the workers to meet. So began "meetings in the home" for the group.

There are three types of meetings in the home. There are the typical Sunday AM meetings and the WED or THU night Bible studies. Elders are chosen by overseers and workers to lead the meetings for the friends of the workers. Sometimes, if a hall nearby or other suitable place cannot be found, special meetings may be held in a large room of a home.
