First off, the name of the group I'm talking about is called by their followers "The Truth, The Way, The Testimony". They will tell you they don't have a name (I told people as a kid and adult that we didn't have a name or were "non-denominational"), but they call themselves "the truth" all the time. They call each other "the friends". Their ministers are "the workers". And their local leader is "the overseer".

Nothing New Under the Sun

After being threatened by the workers for reading and praying with a friend, I realized that I was in just another cult. I didn't feel spiritually elite anymore. And I didn't feel beholden to the overseers, workers or elders who claimed superiority over me. I came to the conclusion that I didn't know God and needed to get to know Him. The fear and threats of the workers was replaced by a wholesome fear of God. I learned that breaking the commandments displeases God. Breaking commandments is the real definition of sin. My adoration shifted from the workers to God. When I truly learned about God's love and felt God's love, then I felt special. To feel God's love and revere Him was enough; I was satisfied. I needed God! In Him I was content!

The Subtle, Sinister LIE

If you believe the lie that this religious group called the 2x2s was founded by God, it will destroy your life. If you believe a lie, it will harm you. Example, say you believe that 1 + 4 = 3 and continue to believe this lie, how do you think it will affect your life? your job? your friendships? My conversion from the 2x2 workers way to Jesus Christ

I was raised attending meetings held by overseers and workers and went to Sunday morning meetings as a child at Bob & Evelyn Brands in Gresham, OR. I "professed" in the workers' meetings held by Grace Ploegsma and Willa Dahlin when I was about 10 or 11. Was baptized by Stanley Sullivan a few years later and at the age of 18 offered to Howard Mooney to become a worker. I had attending meetings for years and had traveled all over the United States (all 50) and attending meetings in nearly every state. On coming back to Portland, OR (near Gresham,OR), I was going to college. A man whom I had worked with, Phu Nguyen, was going through a painful separation with his wife. Because the workers were making things worse and elders were not helping, he called on me to talk with him. We started reading the Bible and praying together. Then Phu and I started following the teachings of Jesus and the workers in the field grew angry and started slandering Phu and myself. I began asking questions, and well, we know where that leads:) I found out the workers didn't know their Bible well. Then I wondered if their misunderstandings were just ignorance, or purposefully teaching lies. So I wrote up a list of questions began interviewing workers. I found out that not only did they not give Biblical answers, but that they were purposefully telling the same lies! I was shocked and devastated by this breach of trust. I started doing searches on the Internet and found some message boards. I started asking some questions. I was shocked at what I found. There was a man posting that Jesus is God in the flesh. I thought that Jesus was the Son of God, but not God! So I asked him about verses in the Bible that appeared to contradict that "Jesus is God". Amazingly, he was able to easily answer each question. He then asked me some questions. I was dumbfounded. Not only had I been lied to that the Bible was a "closed book to the world (non-professing people)", but also I found that many people knew Jesus and God much better than myself. In fact, there were many things that I had been taught by workers that were not true and were nowhere to be found in the Bible (professing, Sun morning meetings etc)!

Having quit the worker's meetings and finding more peace and walking down the street and praying for my neighbors, I came to wonder, "Who is God?". I believed in God and had heard the message from loving Christians that I was sinner because I had indeed broken the commandments of the LORD. I knew that I should worship God whom I had sinned against. I wondered to myself, "Where does Jesus Christ fit in?" And then I remembered, "Jesus Christ is the sacrifice for my sin." (Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. ) Jesus is God in the flesh (Mat 1:23 Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. ), reconciling me to the Father. So then I worshipped God who loves me and gave me the commandments to keep; and worship Jesus who reconciled me to the Father.

But what about the Holy Spirit? I knew the Spirit of God was working in me. And others assured me, "Don't worry, you have the Holy Spirit working in you. I knew that God in heaven was working in me and making changes in my life.

On about November 2nd, 2011 after conversing with a dear friend, I sat near my computer with my hymn book in front of me and began praising the Lord God. I lifted up my hands and my voice to the LORD ALMIGHTY and my voice began to change. I wondered what was going on. This warm feeling entered my body and filled me and my voice changed more and I began to sing and praise the LORD from my heart with such depth and volume that I had never experienced before. I wept as I felt my soul fill with the love of God and realized the fulfillment of the prophecy of John the Baptist, see John 1:33 "And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost." I had experienced being baptized by Jesus Christ. This was something that I had skimmed over in the Bible, not understanding, not thinking about, nor experiencing, and not having ever witnessed in my life before. Since then, my life has been full in a way never experienced before. Praise with me the LORD for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Who are the 2x2s, Their Founder and When Did They Get Started?

William Irvine founded the "Go-Preachers" or "The Testimony" movement in 1897 with his "Alpha Message" while preaching for the Faith Mission in Ireland. He taught that people could not be saved unless they sold everything, gave it to him and became a tramp preacher like him. The Faith Mission kicked him out for his heresies when they discovered what he was doing. A few years later, the "Great Experiment" of William Irvine underwent radical changes and started allowing "friends of the workers" to have meetings in their home. Once William Irvine created a class of people called "overseers", then these overseers took over power and kicked him out. The overseers started the coverup lie that the group was founded by God to conceal their true founder, the mason William Irvine. This was their answer to people who enquired of their founder. This coverup lie is still taught today despise abundant evidence pointing to William Irvine in Newspaper articles, letters, diaries, journals etc.

Irvinites

The people who continued following Irvine became known as Irvinites. William Irvine continued teaching his "Omega Message". William Irvine later died of throat cancer in Israel. There are still a few number of people who continue to be faithful to William Irvine as God's prophet. ( I believe William Irvine was a false prophet)

Cooneyites

Later the 2x2 overseers kicked out Edward Cooney. Edward Cooney felt people should be moved by their spirit instead of being told what to do by overseers. The people who followed after Edward Cooney became known as Cooneyites. Cooneyites are mostly concentrated in Australia today.

However, the most popular, broadest, and most convenient way to follow are the 2x2s. Their overseers promote the lie that William Irvine did not found the group and use this to cover up their involvement with William Irvine. They try to use God's name to gain credibility, as a cloak for their secrecy and clandestine operation of their religion. To this day, the overseers, workers and their followers are encouraged to receive their spirit and not disclose their beliefs. Membership is easy: agree with workers, profess (see cult terminology) and give your "testimony" in meetings. The large numbers of followers in the cult spread over the world make it easy to start socializing in the religious organization. There are many beliefs, so doctrines vary considerably and a person can pretty much have all their own personal convictions they want.

Satanic and Occult Practices of 2x2s

1. Founded on Free Masonry by William Irvine (50 years in the cult) who started the cult. A letter written by a follower of his seems to write that he believes he (William Irvine) was the prophet foretold of by Moses (not Jesus Christ)
2. Coverup, lies, deception about their founder William Irvine
3. Secrecy surrounding their beliefs - refusal to document their tenets, doctrines, teachings, practices
4. Lies, deceptions, guile when asked questions about their beliefs.
5. Claim to higher revelation, enlightenment and special revelations that contradict Bible and history
6. Willful ignorance of the scripture and sound doctrines of Jesus Christ
7. Destruction of people's lives and tearing down of families in order to recruit member and maintain converts
8. Exclusiveness and withdrawal from Christians; despising sound Christian teaching, music and practices

Satanic influence of Overseers

One reason why I am exposing the lies of this cult is because of what I see as a satanic or demonic influence of Lyle Schober. The biggest reason why I share about the cult is to help the people who are under the demonic oppression of the overseers. The workers will never keep the ten commandments, and I have never heard of a worker casting out a devil. Why would Satan want to cast out a devil?

William Irvine claimed he got an "alpha message" from God that his workers (people who believed in his version of the gospel) were apostles and that they were to go out in pairs, be homeless, celibate, poor etc ( often called Tramp Preachers because of poor hygiene from having one set of clothes). Interestingly enough, William Irvine also believed that his followers should sell everything and give it to him. This was a deviation from the teachings of the Faith Mission for which he worked. So while William got rich and the other poor workers labored many miserable years and got nothing. When William Irvine got his "omega message", the overseers (who had a controlling power now) gave him the boot and pretended like he wasn't the groups founder. They still tried to keep to his alpha message, but as they got more money, their theories changed and now they drive cars, wear nice clothes. Now the 2x2s have a mixed gospel message with a lot of humanism mixed in. They claim they are possessed by a spirit that is present in their meetings. Even the Bible they claim to believe in, testifies against them that this is an evil spirit, not of God. Most of the followers of the present day "workers" (no longer believed to be apostles by many) are very confused, not able to state their beliefs and suffer many ill side effects.

Who I am

My name is Brad Lewis. I was a former member of the 2x2 cult. I was raised by parents who were in the cult. At the age of 18, I joined the 2x2 worker ranks. After suffering from the effects of the contradictions in doctrines and teachings, I was left at my parents place to recover. Years later after slander, libel and backstabbing of workers for helping a friend, Phu Nguyen, I quit going to meetings. I met a friend and this helped me to escape. My dad thought I was crazy (for leaving the cult) and tried to "help" me. After talking with me enough, he too left the cult. My aunt and uncle, Don and Kathy Lewis had escaped the cult earlier.

What I do

Now I serve the Lord Almighty, and He has made profound changes in my life. I am ministering to people who have been led astray by the heresies of the overseers; I give evidence, scripture, knowledge, understanding, experience and God's solutions to lead people to God. People go into the public meetings all over the world as "strangers", watch and observe and relay information to me. I take the subtle heresies that the workers teach and put them on this website. I gather names of these preachers so that people can identify these workers of iniquity. Sometimes I even tell 2x2s that Christians are coming to their meetings.

Salvation

Act 16:30+ And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

My Witness to You

Remember the day you read this. Jesus Christ is Lord. I tell you plainly and clearly. Jesus Christ is Lord of all. God can save you. The 2x2 cult is not of God and teaches heresies that enslaves people to the bondage of the overseers and workers. Do not say to God on the day of Judgment "I didn't know." Now you do know. And I have witnessed to you. Receive the good news!

In courtrooms, this foundational belief would be objected to by someone with common sense. Their faulty premise is "argumentative" (founded on a yet unproven principle). The fundamental principle of this secretive sect is poor and ill-conceived by their founder William Irvine. It's never been proven that because people go out in pairs, talk about a god, and claim to be poor and homeless that they are apostles of God. The idea that homeless paired people who establish meetings in homes and are apostles would need to be proven first. And it never has. And them having the spirit of sleep makes it worse. For example, Rom 11:8 "According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear unto this day."

Spirit of Sleep

The spirit of the 2x2s is not of God.

Isa 29:9 Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

Good News for the Oppressed of this secretive imitation sect

The Good News. If you are a person who:

• thought you might go to hell for not going to meetings anymore
• was slandered by the workers after leaving (he's going to start his own church, he's bitter...)
• was lied to as a kid (taught that you needed to profess in meetings to be saved)
• was forced to go to meetings as a child (parents made you sit in meetings listening to boring workers)
• was deceived by workers (claiming Jesus started the cult on the shores of Galilee)
• was sexually molested by workers who claimed to be ministers of God
• was told to obey the workers by elders of meetings
• quit going to meetings because of cult abuse
• was stifled in your spiritual growth and have left the cult, not knowing what is wrong.

My Captors - Misidentification

I found that the workers were not my father in the Lord, they were my captors, misidentified as God. After their abuse, I searched to find my real heavenly father; and I have found my real spiritual father, God the father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Here is the good news: The 2x2s are an abusive cult Based on Freemasonry and many twisted misinterpretations of the bible. It is not of God. The founder of the movement, William Irvine, was a Freemason who copied the idea of workers, meetings and conventions from the Faith Mission that he sold out on. He conjured up a "special revelation" from God, teaching people that if they were to be saved, they must swear allegiance to him, sell everything and give him the money. This is documented in newspaper articles of the day, journals, eye-witness accounts and books, especially the book "The Secret Sect" by Doug and Helen Parker. The lingo from the Faith Mission continues on today in the use of names such as "the work", "workers", "friends", "conventions". Today the cult has mixed its theology with many new age teachings such as "positive thinking" etc. It is one of thousands of cults that ruin people's lives though contradictory teachings that lead to confusion and a barren, unfruitful life.

This is such good news for so many people. Once an abused person who has doubts about its lying teachers find the truth about the group's inner operations and core beliefs, they feel immense relief. Yes, relief that they are not crazy for believing in God and relief to get affirmation for their doubts about the workers' lies. Once I quit going to meetings and felt the responsibility to get to know God myself, I felt so relieved and then so responsible. To learn who God actually is helped me immensely. The foundation of Christ has resulted in good works in my life of which I thank God. These works in my life by God are undeniable proof to me that my faith is now alive!

I believe pseudo-Christian cults try to get followers to follow their own commandments and put people in bondage. They hate a good understanding of the gospel. They teach contradictory beliefs that burden people with heavy weights designed to destroy their souls and make them slaves to the cult leaders. That's why overseers dress nice, stay in the homes of the richest folks and have the nicest lodging and the most money.

Workers Make Claims that insinuates they are really Followers of the Devil

I've included proof on many pages to show that 2x2s do not believe in God. They just do things for selfish aims and being driven of the devil. The workers summarily claim themselves that their father is the devil and not the Father. Here's why:

1. They teach that those that are of the Truth hear the voice of God.
2. When the Truth is revealed to the workers, they reject Him.
3. They reject knowledge about the cult's beginnings and the Free Masonry roots and theology.

Yes! There is Healing. You can become whole. And God really is Good.
