Taking Part in Meetings

Taking part in meetings is the equivalent of being 2x2 saved. That is, if you are allowed to take part, then you are in allegience with the overseers, workers, elders and the general followers.

"Taking Part" or "Giving Your Testimony"

The words taking part insinuated that you have an active part in the group. Which is kinda true but mostly not. Followers don't teach and are no actively involved excpet for going to meetings, "giving their testimony" and housing the workers. They typically don't actively recruit. Although my grandpa mentioned that if you don't bring at least one person to meeting who professes, they may be something wrong with you.

Typical Definition of "Testimony"

A typical defintion (and what Christian's would think of when they hear the word "testimony") is someone giving evidence or proof provided by the existence or appearance of something. For example, you would testify as to what you saw, heard and experienced as God worked in your life that week.

Cult use of "Testimony"

Followers will call their speak or regurgitation of the workers' teachings a "testimony". But it is actually just a repeating back (to gain approval of workers) of what the workers have taught them in meetings. They don't necessarily tell what they've witnessed that week. It fits more along the lines of "A formal written or spoken statement, esp. one given in a court of law", or more like "a formal spoken statement manifesting their beliefs and allegiance to the overseers, workers and elders.

"Giving your testimony" does not accurately describe what they do. Most typically, it involves a follower reading their Bible on Saturday night or Sunday morning to "find a testimony" to say at Sunday morning.

I grew up in the Workers' Way and saw that the workers very softly and sweetly taught subtle lies in guile; I learned to associate "kindness" and "nice"-acting people with lies. I became confrontational to get answers. Now I'm learning to speak the full truth in love.
